Survivorship Picnic

Due to an extremely rainy forecast for Friday, June 21, the Survivorship Picnic has been rescheduled to Friday, July 19! 

Join us on Friday, July 19 for a Cancer Survivorship Picnic! This family picnic is a casual gathering of survivors, caregivers, and family. Stop by to enjoy an afternoon of food, fun and friends! Registration is recommended, though not required and attendance is free.

Date: Friday, July 19, 2024

Time: Join us any time between 5-8 PM

Location: Brookview Park, 200 Brookview Pkwy N, Golden Valley, MN 55426. We will be at the large picnic shelter, which is covered in case of rain.

Food: Come hungry and leave happy! We will have Market Bar-B-Que Food Truck joining us with options including barbecue pulled pork, brisket and chicken, veggie burgers, fresh fried chips, coleslaw and mac and cheese. The food truck is free to all Survivorship Picnic attendees.

Activities: We will have a variety of activities for all ages!

  • Splash Pad (in the park nearby)

Please RSVP so we can keep you updated on what to expect for the afternoon, inform you of any possible weather-related changes, and so we have enough food available for all.

FAQs

Who is invited to the event?

All survivors, caregivers, families, friends and loved ones are invited to join us for this fun, easy-going, get-together.

What if I can't be there the whole time?

That's ok! You can come and go as you need during the 5-8 PM time. You do not need to be there for the entire event.

Do I need to bring anything?

Nope! We will have activities, yard games, and a food truck. You're welcome to bring your own personal items (chairs, blankets, cooler) if you prefer .

Who is the speaker?

We do not have a speaker for this event. It is a casual, fun, get-together for survivors, caregivers and their families to meet other survivors, caregivers and their families. You can come and go as you need between 5-8 PM.

What if the weather is bad?

If inclement weather is in the forecast, we will watch the weather closely and make a decision as needed. Please be sure to include your email in your registration in case any last minute details or changes need to be communicated.

The picnic shelter is covered so if it’s lightly raining, we will still hold the event.

Who is hosting the event?

The 2024 Survivorship Picnic is hosted by the Masonic Cancer Center and Gilda's Club Minnesota.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes, you can bring your own food if you prefer. Complimentary food is also available through Market Bar-B-Que Food Truck. 

Can we use Brookview Park's Splash Pad while we're there for the picnic?

Yes! Brookview Park does have a splash pad available. If weather permits, you're welcome to bring swimsuits, towels, etc if you'd like to cool off at the splash pad.
 

Do I have to be / have been treated at M Health Fairview to attend?

No — Anyone who has been touched by cancer is welcome to come regardless of where you were / are being treated!
